Digital accessibility
For everyone,
not just for the law.
Not every website needs to comply with the WCAG guidelines.
But increasingly so, and the boundary is shifting. From June 2025, the European Accessibility Act will apply to a large part of the business sector. Larger organisations, e-commerce, financial services, transport. The list is growing.
Not sure if your website needs to comply? Or does it already comply, but you're not certain? We can help you figure it out.
Good story, but how then?
Three layers that all need to fit well
Accessibility works on three levels.
Technology is the foundation. Code that screen readers understand, forms with clear error messages, keyboard navigation, skip links. We build this standard well.
Design is the second layer. Adequate colour contrast, clear buttons, straightforward navigation. Get it right once, and thereafter you hardly have to look back.
Content is where it often goes wrong. Text on images, headings that are bold instead of H2, links that can only be recognised by colour, images without alt text. Small things with a big impact. We help your editors understand what to pay attention to.
Accessibility also helps your discoverability
An accessible website is more readable for screen readers and search engines. Not a side issue, it's just smart.
Privacy by design
We build privacy in as a standard, not as a checkbox afterwards. Collect as little data as possible, store it as securely as possible, and communicate as transparently as possible with your visitors.
Umbraco Cloud helps with this: hosting in Europe, data that doesn't just end up with third parties, and a platform that is regularly updated.
Does your website need to comply with WCAG?
That depends on your organisation size, sector, and what you offer online. We are happy to review it with you, and if you already have a website, we will scan it right away.
